Shades of Dusk: The Sunset’s Spectrum at Yuhi Misaki on Kasado Island

jsqwebmaster, 01/09/202404/04/2024

In the early evening of January at Yuhi Misaki on Kasado Island, Kudamatsu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the sky undergoes a dramatic transformation. Just three minutes before sunset, the sun peeks slightly through the clouds lying on the horizon. The thick clouds above the Seto Inland Sea change from orange to deep blue gradients, creating a complex interplay of colors reflected in the calm sea.

Photo Description – Twilight’s Tapestry

This image captures the intricate dance of colors at sunset, with the deep blue of the clouds merging into the fiery orange of the setting sun. The calm sea beneath reflects this mesmerizing spectacle, offering a mirror to the sky’s changing hues. The quiet, waveless Seto Inland Sea perfectly encapsulates the essence of a serene dusk.

Story Behind the Photo – Capturing the Evanescent Light

As sunset approached, the cloud cover on the horizon suggested the sun would disappear behind them, creating a unique play of light and shadow. The sky shifted from a brilliant orange to a deeper blue as night drew near, symbolizing the day’s end. The stillness of the sea added to the scene’s tranquility, typical of an evening on the Seto Inland Sea.

From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Recreating the Moment

Back home, I endeavored to recreate the complex shades I witnessed. Adjusting exposure and color settings to match the memory proved challenging. By setting the exposure to be flat and enhancing the vividness, I was able to bring out the spectrum of colors I felt in that moment, capturing the unique beauty of dusk at Yuhi Misaki.
