On a clear afternoon in early December, I had the opportunity to photograph the iconic Kintaikyo Bridge in Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Set against a backdrop of cloudless deep blue sky and autumn-colored mountains, with Iwakuni Castle perched at the summit, the bridge shone in a golden hue under the autumn sun.
Photo Description – A Bridge Between Time and Nature
In the center of the photograph, the Kintaikyo Bridge, bathed in the golden light of the late autumn sun, stood out brilliantly. This image captures the two symbols of the region – the historic bridge and Iwakuni Castle – in one frame, depicting a timeless landscape that remains unchanged.
Story Behind the Photo – A Homeward Journey Through Memory
Returning to my hometown from Tokyo for a personal errand, I decided to visit Kintaikyo Bridge, a place I hadn’t seen in years. Landing at Iwakuni Airport, I was drawn to this familiar scene from my past. The landscape, as ever, had retained its beauty.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Capturing the Autumnal Glow
Having photographed this location numerous times before, my focus this time was to capture the essence of late autumn. The most striking aspect was the color of the bridge under the day’s slightly yellow-tinted sunlight, which I accentuated by choosing the angle that best highlighted the bridge’s golden radiance.
