River Reflection Selfie: My Shadow on the Waters of Kintaikyo

jsqwebmaster, 12/09/202304/04/2024

On a sunny December afternoon at Kintaikyo Bridge in Iwakuni, I captured a moment of serendipity. The clear waters of the Nishiki River not only reflected the bridge’s elegant arches but also my own shadow, creating a unique and personal connection with this historic landmark.

Photo Description – A Personal Touch in Nature’s Mirror
The photo frames Kintaikyo Bridge with its reflection in the Nishiki River below, creating a natural mirror effect. The arches of the bridge cast a distinct shadow on the water, where my own small silhouette was also captured, adding an unexpected personal element to the scene.

Story Behind the Photo – A Serendipitous Discovery
While crossing the bridge and taking in the surroundings, my attention was drawn to the river below. The reflection of the bridge’s arches on the water, coupled with the tiny outline of my shadow, inspired me to capture this moment. It was a fleeting opportunity, as the light changed later in the afternoon, erasing the shadow play from the water’s surface.

From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Capturing a Moment in Time
This photograph was a delightful find, almost like a natural selfie. The interplay of light and shadow, combined with the pristine reflections, created this unique and personal composition, emphasizing the ephemeral beauty of the moment.
