Nestled on the border of Tokyo, Kosuge Village in Yamanashi Prefecture offers a breathtaking display of nature’s colors, especially during the autumn season. On a late October day, I found myself surrounded by the mesmerizing hues of fall, capturing a moment that felt miles away from the bustling city.
Photo Description – Nature’s Vibrant Palette
In the foreground, leaves transitioning from yellow to a fiery red, with trees in the background also beginning to showcase their autumnal colors. This photograph encapsulates the essence of fall in Kosuge Village, with every shade of yellow and red coming to life.
Story Behind the Photo – An Unexpected Autumn Drive
Kosuge Village, located near the source of the Tama River on the border with Tokyo, was a first-time visit for me. Surprisingly, this haven of nature is just under two hours away from Tokyo. The winding roads, flanked by trees starting to show their autumn colors, made for an exhilarating drive. It felt like the perfect place to drive with the convertible top down. While on the move, a particularly stunning tree with vibrant autumn leaves caught my eye. Although I had passed several beautiful trees without a place to stop, I was fortunate to find a parking spot near this one, prompting an impromptu photo session.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – The Challenge of Capturing Fall
On this day, I had equipped my camera with a bright lens. I tried shooting wide open, but the shallow depth of field didn’t quite capture the red leaves as I had hoped. However, by stopping down to f/8, I was able to get a shot where the leaves were beautifully in focus, preserving the vibrant colors of autumn.
