My First Onomichi Series: Day 2/6
From Senkoji’s peak, a vista so grand,
Islands dot the sea, like gems in the sand.
On a cloudy day, the horizon still gleams,
A tranquil beauty, a sight from dreams.

Story Behind the Photo – Scenic Overlook
Taken from the observation deck at the top of Mount Senkoji, this photo offers a stunning perspective of Onomichi Waterway. The ropeway’s summit station provides immediate access to this breathtaking viewpoint. Even under the overcast sky, the sight of the islands scattered across the sea is captivating. The unique geography of the Seto Inland Sea, with its myriad islands, creates an endlessly fascinating panorama that is quintessentially Japanese.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Capturing the Moment
During a midday visit to Onomichi, I ascended to Mount Senkoji’s summit. The view from the top was mesmerizing, with the city below and the endless islands stretching out across the waterway. Despite the cloudy weather, which muted the colors and clarity, the scene retained a serene beauty that I was eager to capture. I can only imagine how much more stunning this vista would appear under a clear, blue sky, but even so, this photo serves as a cherished memory of my time in Onomichi.
