Morning mists on mountains high,
Orange azaleas reaching for the sky,
Tashiro Marsh in morning’s light,
Kamikochi’s beauty, pure and bright.
Photo Description – Morning at Tashiro Marsh
From Tashiro Marsh, this early morning view captures the ethereal beauty of Okuhotaka-dake and Dakesawa, framed by the delicate greenery of the marsh and the vibrant orange azaleas. The soft, overcast sky contrasts with the vivid colors of the flowers, adding a touch of drama to the serene landscape.
Story Behind the Photo – Framing Nature’s Palette
In early June, as the morning light spread across Kamikochi, I found myself at Tashiro Marsh. By 8 AM, the sky had become overcast, casting a soft light over the scene. Though the clear blue sky was obscured, the orange azaleas in bloom added a burst of color to the landscape. Adjusting my framing to highlight these flowers against the backdrop of Okuhotaka-dake and Dakesawa, I captured a unique aspect of Kamikochi’s beauty.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Embracing the Overcast Light
Photographing in the early morning at Tashiro Marsh, the challenge was to use the overcast light to my advantage. The soft, diffuse light allowed the colors of the azaleas to stand out vividly without harsh shadows. This setting emphasized the contrast between the bright flowers and the muted tones of the mountains, creating a harmonious composition that reflects the tranquil beauty of Kamikochi.
