Photo Description – Nature’s Palette Unveiled
This photograph captures the delicate beauty of white and purple irises in the back garden of Meigetsu-in in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. The vibrant green leaves provide a striking contrast, enhancing the irises’ vivid colors. The white irises with their subtle yellow accents and the rich, deep purple irises together create a scene that symbolizes the transition from spring to summer.
Story Behind the Photo – A Glimpse of Seasonal Beauty
On a mid-June morning, I visited the back garden of Meigetsu-in’s main hall in Kamakura. While most visitors come for the famous hydrangeas, the irises also start to bloom beautifully during this period. Among the powerful green leaves, the white and purple irises caught my eye. Capturing this moment, I aimed to showcase the delicate yet vibrant beauty of these flowers, reflecting the season’s shift from spring to summer.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Capturing Seasonal Elegance
Photographing the irises at Meigetsu-in was an exercise in capturing subtle beauty amidst lush greenery. The challenge was to highlight the elegance of the irises while maintaining the rich texture of the green leaves. Using a narrow aperture, I focused on bringing out the sharpness and vivid colors of the flowers. This approach allowed me to encapsulate the delicate transition from spring to summer, embodied in the blooming irises.
