Story Behind the Photo – Finding Peace Amidst the Crowd
On a mid-June morning, I visited Meigetsu-in, the famed Hydrangea Temple of Kamakura. While wandering among the crowds, I sought moments of calm that captured the true spirit of the place. Amidst the hustle, I discovered this peaceful Jizo statue, cradling bright blue hydrangeas and adorned with matching accessories. The serene expression and the harmonious setting stood out, embodying the quiet beauty of Kamakura despite the surrounding visitors.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Capturing Tranquility
Photographing this scene at Meigetsu-in was a rewarding challenge. The goal was to convey the tranquil essence of the Jizo statue amid a bustling crowd. The vibrant blue hydrangeas added a perfect touch of color and serenity. By using a wide aperture to create a shallow depth of field, I isolated the statue from the background, enhancing the sense of calm and focus on the Jizo’s gentle embrace of the flowers.
