Reflection in Taisho Pond: Kamikochi’s Morning Serenity

jsqwebmaster, 06/26/202406/23/2024

Under a thin veil of clouds, the peaks stand tall,
Hodaka’s snow-capped grandeur reflected in all,
Taisho Pond’s stillness, a serene embrace,
Kamikochi’s beauty, nature’s tranquil grace.

Photo Description – Morning Reflection at Taisho Pond: Captured in the early morning light of early June in Kamikochi, this photograph showcases the serene Taisho Pond. Under a thin layer of clouds, the still waters perfectly reflect the snow-capped peaks of the Hodaka Range and Dakesawa, creating a breathtakingly tranquil scene. The lush greenery surrounding the pond adds to the sense of calm and natural beauty.

Story Behind the Photo – Rediscovering Taisho Pond: In the early morning of early June, my journey through Kamikochi led me to the tranquil Taisho Pond. It had been 17 years since my last visit, and I was struck by how much the landscape had changed. The once numerous standing dead trees had significantly diminished, leaving a more expansive view of the pond. Despite the thin clouds obscuring a perfectly clear sky, the reflection of the Hodaka Range on the calm water surface provided a beautiful new perspective of this changing yet ever-beautiful location.

From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Embracing Change and Reflection: Arriving at Taisho Pond after a morning hike felt like reaching a serene destination. The thin veil of clouds offered soft, diffused lighting, perfect for capturing the tranquil reflection of the Hodaka Range. Although I missed the dramatic standing dead trees that I remembered from my last visit, the expansive water surface and its mirror-like reflection presented a new kind of beauty. This shot became a testament to the evolving nature of Taisho Pond, reminding me that even familiar places hold new wonders to discover.
