Yake-dake at Sunset: The Timeless Beauty of Kamikochi

jsqwebmaster, 06/14/202406/12/2024

Evening light on mountain and stream,
Clouds drifting, greens agleam,
Yake-dake stands tall, Azusa River bright,
Kamikochi’s calm, in nature’s light.

Photo Description – Evening Glow on Yake-dake and Azusa River
This photo captures Yake-dake and the Azusa River in Kamikochi, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, bathed in the gentle evening sunlight. The white cloud crowning Yake-dake adds a dramatic contrast to the blue sky and green landscape. The Azusa River shines brilliantly under the setting sun, and the vibrant green of the trees stands out beautifully.

Story Behind the Photo – Unchanging Charm of Kamikochi
Taken on an early June evening during a return visit to Kamikochi, this photo captures the iconic Yake-dake and Azusa River. Before heading towards Myojin from Kappa Bridge, I turned west to capture this scene of Yake-dake and the Azusa River under the blue sky before the weather changed. Though Yake-dake’s details are blurred due to the backlight, its presence is undeniable. The sunlit Azusa River and the vivid green of the trees create a striking composition.

From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Capturing the Moment
To capture Kamikochi’s natural beauty, I made sure not to miss this moment. Shooting against the light highlighted Yake-dake’s presence and the brilliance of the Azusa River. The harmony of the sunlit green trees and the turquoise blue of the Azusa River perfectly captures this special moment.
