As December 31st drew to a close, I found myself at Hagi-no-Hira Observation Deck along the Cobalt Line in my hometown of Hikari, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Though the setting sun was hidden behind thick clouds, the sky above was awash with a vibrant orange hue. Below, the calm Seto Inland Sea stretched into the distance, a serene end to the year.
Photo Description – Dusk at Hikari: An Unseen Sunset
The view from the observation deck offered a sweeping vista of the Seto Inland Sea under a sky transitioning from day to night. While the sun itself was obscured by clouds, the orange glow of its setting painted a beautiful scene of peace and contemplation.
Story Behind the Photo – Reflecting on the Year’s End from Home
Unable to see the sun dip below the horizon, I still embraced the moment, reflecting on the past year and hoping for a brighter one ahead. The thick clouds couldn’t diminish the beauty of my hometown’s twilight sky, offering a different yet equally poignant sunset experience.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Embracing Nature’s Palette
Though the ideal image of a sun setting over the horizon eluded me, the overflowing orange light from above the clouds offered a different kind of beauty. It was a reminder that even when things don’t go as planned, there’s still beauty to be found, especially when looking at the world through a lens.
