On a late November evening in Tokyo’s Minato Ward, I captured the enchanting sight of ginkgo trees at Meiji Jingu Gaien, brilliantly lit up against the night sky. The golden glow of the trees, juxtaposed with the darkness around, created a scene of sheer magnificence.
Photo Description – A Walk Under the Ginkgo Canopy
The photograph showcases visitors strolling beneath the illuminated ginkgo trees, their figures silhouetted against the vibrant yellow leaves. The night’s darkness accentuated the radiant, golden hues of the trees, turning the avenue into a dazzling spectacle.
Story Behind the Photo – An Evening Discovery
I had some time to spare before an evening meeting and decided to visit Meiji Jingu Gaien at around 16:30. With the sky still bright from the sunset, I returned an hour later to find the scene transformed. The darkness of the night had set in, and the ginkgo trees were shining brightly in their illuminated glory.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Challenges of Night Photography
Without a tripod, I increased the ISO to 1600 and shot handheld. Most of the photos were blurred due to camera shake. Using my older Nikon Df camera, which lacks modern stabilization features and high ISO capabilities, resulted in a grainy texture. This experience was a lesson in the importance of appropriate equipment for night photography.
