Fuji in Fall: A Maple Leaf Perspective

jsqwebmaster, 11/28/202306/08/2024

During a bright morning in late November at Lake Kawaguchi, Yamanashi Prefecture, I was treated to a stunning display of autumn’s beauty. From beneath the maple trees along the lake’s shore, I captured a unique composition: the refreshing blue sky of autumn and the majestic Mount Fuji framed by the fiery red maple leaves.

Photo Description – Mount Fuji Amidst Autumn’s Canvas
Under the maple trees at Lake Kawaguchi’s shore, the scene unfolded into a perfect autumnal picture. Deep red maple leaves formed a natural frame, offering a peek at Mount Fuji set against the crisp autumn sky. The presence of a swan peeking out near the bottom added a touch of charm to the serene landscape.

Story Behind the Photo – A Quest to Unite Maple and Mountain
Seeking to capture both the deepening autumn and the iconic Mount Fuji, I explored various vantage points. It’s one thing to see photos of maple leaves and Mount Fuji together, but quite another to find the right distance and angle for such a shot. The challenge lay in balancing the distance between the maples and the mountain in my lens.

From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Navigating Challenges with a Macro Lens
Initially, I used a wide-angle lens, but the strong sunlight made it difficult to include Mount Fuji without capturing the sun’s glare. Switching to a standard macro lens, I found my solution. This particular shot was achieved by stepping back to include both the maples and Mount Fuji, using an F8 aperture to capture the foreground maples sharply, while accepting a gentle blur in the overhead leaves.
