Meiji Jingu Gaien’s Ginkgo Avenue, renowned for its stunning beauty in Japan, presents a unique autumnal scene. Captured in mid-November, this photograph showcases the ginkgo trees as they begin their transformation, with a mix of green and emerging yellow leaves under a clear autumn sky. This image not only reflects the gradual change of seasons but also highlights the famous location’s allure during this transitional period.
Photo Description – Amidst Autumn’s Gradual Shift
The gingko trees of Meiji Jingu Gaien, captured in this photograph, are in the midst of autumn’s transition. Under a bright sky, the interplay of yellow and green leaves represents the slow dance of the season, with each leaf telling a story of gradual change. This scene captures the essence of autumn’s unhurried pace.
Story Behind the Photo – A Day to Check the Progress of Autumn
The visit on this day was to check how far the autumn colors had progressed in the gingko trees of Meiji Jingu Gaien. Blessed with good weather, it was an opportunity to see the current state of the trees. However, the trees still retained much of their green, not yet fully transformed into their autumn glory. This contrast was even more apparent when compared to the gingko trees near Kasumigaseki, which had almost completely turned yellow, highlighting the diversity in the timing of autumn colors within Tokyo.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Contemplating Nature’s Beauty
On this day, with the weather being favorable, I went to see the state of the gingko trees, but found that the autumn colors had not progressed much. They might advance by next week, but good weather is not guaranteed, making it challenging to capture nature in its ideal state. Furthermore, the very idea of trying to capture an ‘ideal’ state might seem presumptuous. This experience made me reflect on how to engage with the beauty of nature.
