Capturing Fuji: A Midday Glimpse from Okamoto Fujimizaka

jsqwebmaster, 11/14/202304/04/2024

In the midst of Tokyo’s autumn chill, a tranquil midday at Okamoto Fujimizaka (officially called Tokyo Fujimizaka) in Setagaya Ward offers a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji, recently reclaimed by snow after a brief absence.

Photo Description – Witnessing the Return of Snow to Mount Fuji

On a clear November midday, this serene view of Mount Fuji was captured from Okamoto Fujimizaka in Tokyo’s Setagaya Ward. The crisp autumn air cleared the sky, revealing the mountain’s peak, which had recently regained its snowy cap.

Story Behind the Photo – An Unexpected Midday Discovery

This photo was taken the day after a sudden drop in temperature brought snow back to the temporarily bare peak of Mount Fuji. Waking up to this magnificent sight, I quickly finished my morning tasks and headed to Okamoto Fujimizaka, known for its beautiful view of Mount Fuji. By noon, the distant Mount Fuji appeared slightly hazy, but the cloudless sky still showcased its majestic, snow-capped summit.

From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Learning the Nuances of Light

This experience underscored the importance of understanding light in photography. During midday, the sun’s higher position compared to the morning made it challenging to capture the contrasts and shadows on the snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji. I plan to try again on the next clear morning.
