Nestled in the westernmost part of Tokyo lies Okutama Lake, a tranquil oasis away from the urban hustle. On a clear autumn day, I ventured to capture the picturesque floating bridge of Tōzura, set against the backdrop of the lake’s emerald waters.
Photo Description – A Glimpse of Autumn’s Embrace
Through the branches of trees just starting to show their autumn colors, the floating bridge of Tōzura on Okutama Lake is visible. Against the backdrop of the lake and the foliage, the bridge paints a picture of quiet beauty.
Story Behind the Photo – A Walk on Water
Located near the boundary with Yamanashi Prefecture, the Tōzura Floating Bridge was originally constructed as an alternative route for daily commutes. Today, it stands as a popular tourist attraction in Okutama. The sensation of walking on this bridge is akin to treading on water, with its gentle sway adding to the charm, especially on windless days like when I visited. However, one needs to tread carefully and watch their step.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – Capturing the Essence of Autumn
While the view from the bridge was enchanting, I felt it was a tad early to capture the full autumnal splendor. Returning to the shore, I found a few trees that had turned color. Framing the bridge through these branches, I was able to encapsulate the essence of autumn in my shot. The challenge was to convey the onset of autumn while emphasizing the unique structure of the bridge. By framing the bridge through the branches of trees that had started to turn color, I was able to not only highlight the bridge but also offer subtle hints of the season.
