Nestled in the heart of Kanagawa, Hayama Park offers a serene vantage point to appreciate the distant beauty of Enoshima. On a clear autumn day, I set out to capture this iconic island, revealing details often overlooked by the naked eye.
Photo Description – A Glimpse of Sagami Bay’s Gem
Under the refreshing blue sky of early October, the photograph showcases the silhouette of Enoshima, set against the backdrop of the Sagami Bay. To its right, the urban sprawl of Fujisawa city stretches out, with the majestic Mt. Oyama looming in the distance.
Story Behind the Photo – The Charm of Hayama’s Viewpoint
Kanagawa Prefectural Hayama Park, located near the Hayama Imperial Villa, is one of my favorite spots in Hayama. While the park offers breathtaking views of Mount Fuji across Sagami Bay, the distant allure of Enoshima holds a special place in my heart. To the unaided eye, Enoshima often appears as a mere speck on the horizon. Yet, on this particular day, armed with a 200mm vintage lens, the island revealed itself in unprecedented detail.
From an Amateur Photographer’s Perspective – The Magic of Telephoto
While Enoshima usually appears diminutive to the naked eye, attaching a 200mm vintage lens brought forth details usually hidden from view. The Enoshima Ohashi bridge, Shonan Port Lighthouse, and the towering Enoshima Sea Candle all came into sharp focus. Using a telephoto lens truly offers a fresh perspective, allowing one to capture scenes in a light unperceived in everyday observations.
