Walking around the tranquil surroundings of the Kurushima Strait, one can’t help but think of the historical significance of this region. The strait and its surrounding waters once played host to the strategic maritime activities of the Murakami Navy during the Sengoku period. Today’s tranquil scenes belie the vibrant history of naval maneuvers, skirmishes, and the importance of the Seto Inland Sea as a crucial waterway. Not far from the strait, local eateries offer fresh seafood selections, allowing travelers to savor delicacies like the filefish, an essence of the Seto Inland Sea.
